About Citizens Behavioral Health
Citizens Behavioral Health provides structured behavioral health services through our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and youth. We are seeking compassionate and dependable Behavioral Technicians to provide direct support, supervision, and encouragement to clients throughout the treatment day. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others and making a meaningful difference in behavioral health care.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Technician / Direct Care Staff member plays an essential role in supporting clients, maintaining safety, assisting clinical staff, and helping ensure a positive treatment environment. This position involves direct interaction with clients and requires strong communication, observation, and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Safety
- Provide supervision and support to clients throughout program activities.
- Monitor client behavior, emotional well-being, and participation.
- Report concerns, safety issues, or behavioral changes to clinical staff.
- Assist with crisis prevention, de-escalation, and client support.
- Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all participants.
Group & Treatment Support
- Assist therapists and clinical staff during group sessions and treatment activities.
- Encourage client participation and positive engagement.
- Support skill-building activities focused on coping skills, communication, emotional regulation, and recovery.
- Help prepare materials and treatment spaces for daily activities.
- Reinforce treatment goals and positive behavioral strategies.
Program Operations
- Assist with client check-in, attendance tracking, and daily program routines.
- Support meal, break, and transition periods.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe treatment areas.
- Document observations, attendance, and required program information.
- Assist with daily operational needs and client support activities.
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with therapists, supervisors, and program leadership.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Support a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s Degree or coursework in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, or individuals receiving behavioral health services preferred.
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and client-centered support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use treatment, education, group homes, residential programs, or community support services.
- Experience supporting individuals with behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Current CPR, First Aid, CNA, or related certifications.
- Experience working with youth, adults, or co-occurring disorders.
