Through our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP), we help individuals build healthier lives through recovery-focused, community-based care.

We are seeking an experienced and licensed IOP / SAIOP Supervisor to lead outpatient treatment services, mentor clinical staff, and ensure high-quality care for individuals working toward lasting recovery.

Position Summary

The IOP / SAIOP Supervisor serves as the clinical leader for our outpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment programs. This role combines direct clinical services with program oversight, ensuring treatment remains evidence-based, recovery-oriented, and focused on positive client outcomes.

The ideal candidate is passionate about addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and helping individuals successfully navigate the challenges of mental health and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Recovery Services

  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on recovery and behavioral health treatment.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care.
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to behavioral health professionals.
  • Review treatment plans, assessments, progress reviews, and discharge documentation.
  • Support clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges.

Substance Use Recovery Programming

  • Oversee treatment services designed to support long-term recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Monitor client engagement, treatment participation, and recovery progress.
  • Support recovery planning and individualized treatment goals.
  • Collaborate with community providers and recovery support resources.
  • Promote a recovery-focused treatment environment.

Program Operations

  • Oversee daily IOP and SAIOP schedules and treatment activities.
  • Coordinate admissions, transitions, referrals, and discharge planning.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and service delivery.
  • Support communication between clients, families, staff, and referral partners.
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and supportive treatment environment.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure clinical documentation meets professional and organizational standards.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and program evaluations.
  • Participate in chart reviews, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Promote confidentiality, ethical care, and professional accountability.
  • Monitor outcomes and support continuous program improvement.

Staff Development & Leadership

  • Train, mentor, and supervise clinical team members.
  • Support professional development and continuing education.
  • Assist with onboarding and clinical training initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and recovery-oriented team culture.

Crisis Intervention & Client Support

  • Provide guidance during clinical crises and challenging situations.
  • Support risk assessment, safety planning, and client stabilization.
  • Assist staff in addressing complex clinical needs.
  • Promote client engagement, motivation, and long-term success.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Active and unrestricted professional licensure in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Experience working in substance use treatment, IOP, SAIOP, or related outpatient settings.
  • Experience providing supervision or leadership within behavioral health programs.
  • Strong knowledge of addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) coordination.
  • Advanced credentials related to substance use treatment.
  • Experience working with recovery support services and community partners.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health quality improvement initiatives.
