About Citizens Behavioral Health
Citizens Behavioral Health provides comprehensive behavioral health services through our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults experiencing mental health and co-occurring substance use challenges. We are seeking a Licensed Therapist to provide high-quality therapeutic services for adult clients while working as part of a collaborative and supportive treatment team.
Position Summary
The Licensed Therapist – Adult Services provides individual and group therapy, clinical assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing support for adults participating in our PHP and IOP programs. This role focuses on direct client care, therapeutic engagement, and helping individuals develop the skills needed to improve their mental health and overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Clinical Services
- Provide individual and group therapy services for adult clients.
- Conduct clinical assessments, intake evaluations, and treatment planning activities.
- Maintain an active caseload and provide ongoing therapeutic support.
- Facilitate therapy groups focused on emotional wellness, coping skills, trauma recovery, communication, and personal growth.
- Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and safety planning when necessary.
Group Therapy & Treatment Delivery
- Facilitate engaging and evidence-based therapeutic groups.
- Utilize treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed care.
- Support client participation, skill development, and treatment progress.
- Create a safe, respectful, and supportive therapeutic environment.
Treatment Planning & Care Coordination
- Develop individualized treatment goals and therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, and treatment team members.
- Assist with discharge planning and referrals to community resources.
- Support continuity of care and successful transitions between levels of treatment.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Complete progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and discharge summaries.
- Participate in documentation reviews and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with professional, ethical, and organizational standards.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Collaborate with therapists, counselors, case managers, and support staff.
- Support a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and client-centered care.
- Contribute to ongoing program development and service excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.
- Active and unrestricted professional licensure in North Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience working with adult behavioral health populations preferred.
- Experience providing individual and group therapy services.
- Strong assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to evidence-based and client-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in PHP, IOP, Day Treatment, inpatient, or intensive outpatient settings.
- Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed treatment approaches.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary treatment teams.
